The Fringe of Squaredom

In 1961 Cannonball Adderley called his quintet into the studio to record with fast-rising singing star Nancy Wilson. The record, simply titled Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley, went on to become loved by jazz musicians and fans alike, prompting David Nathan of Allmusic to comment: “Why any serious jazz collection would be without this classic album is difficult to comprehend.”

Well known local jazz identities Rachael Thoms (vocalist) and Tom Fell (saxophone) have brought together the cream of the Canberra jazz scene to pay homage to this legendary album. The band features a combination of newcomers and stalwarts: Mark Sutton (drums), Alec Hunter (bass), Wayne Kelly (piano) and Brendan Magee (Trombone).
